As a future middle school teacher, the thought of how can I keep my students engaged and interested in my lessons has come to mind. The resource I have found will help do just that. PBS has an abundance of educational resources but there is one in particular called PBS Learning Media . PBS Learning Media allows you to join for free. As a teacher, you can access lessons that are aligned with state standards, you can save those resources to your google classroom ( which has also become a great way to share material with students ), and create quizzes, puzzles, and storyboards. This resource allows you to choose the grade-level appropriate for your students and the subject you teach, which makes this resource accessible for ALL content areas. I think the coolest part of this resource is that you can be aligned with what you are searching for with the standards from your state. Because some school requires you to base your lesson plans strictly by the state standards, this will come in handy in making your lessons engaging and interactive for the students. This website also allows students to make their own free account and access their "Classroom" that the teacher has made for them. This is a great way for the students to keep up with their own progress as well as to help them keep all of their assignments organized and easy to access. This resource can also be used for fun, outside of the classroom setting. There is an abundance of games, interactive videos, and podcasts. I have mentioned this before in previous posts but I think it is important to incorporate media in the classroom because the kids have grown up in the generation where technology is one of the main forms of communication.

  1. Hey Shelby!
I really liked your resource this week. The website is very user friendly and I like how you can filter specific grade levels and state standards. I also know PBS is a credible source so that's great too. I also like how students can create their own account and enroll in a "classroom" that allows them to keep track of their progress. It's a great way to monitor students and keep the work engaging. WC: 76

  2. Hey Shelby --

Thanks for sharing this resource. I think you are exactly right that we may sometimes struggle with creating lessons that go hand in hand with the state standards. I think it will be very useful to have this resource in our back pocket. One thing that is really cool about this to me is how students can interact with it as well. Overall, I think this is a very useful resource to use in class.
